Ferric chloride is an iron(III) salt that hydrolyzes in water to form dense, fast-settling flocs, making it an effective coagulant across a broad pH range.
It is used in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, phosphorus removal, sludge conditioning and drinking water clarification, and for etching copper in printed circuit board and metal processing.
